AUDITION NOTICE

IPHIGENEIA AT AULIS

Auditions:
Saturday, March 5: 11-6
Sunday, March 6: 2-9

Callbacks:
Tuesday March 8, 7-11
Wednesday March 9, 7-11

Performances: May 12-June 5 with the possibility of an extension.

Roles:

AGAMEMNON (M): Father to Iphigeneia and Orestes. Husband to Clytemnestra. King of Mycenae. Leader of the Greek expedition against Troy.

OLD MAN (M): Not necessarily an old man, but a wise, mature man; an old soul. Agamemnon’s primary attendant

MENELAOS (M): Brother of Agamemnon. Husband of Helen of Troy.

FIRST MESSENGER (F): Clytemnestra’s primary attendant.

CLYTEMNESTRA (F): Mother to Iphigeneia and Orestes. Husband to Agamemnon. Queen of Mycenae.

IPHIGENEIA (F): Daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. Princess of Mycenae.

ACHILLES (M): A demigod. Hero-to-be of the Trojan War.

SECOND MESSENGER (M/F): Attendant to the royal family. Delivers the news of Iphigeneia’s sacrifice/apparition.

1-3 additional people will be cast as ensemble members, playing the roles of various attendants, servants, warriors and musicians.

To those who audition:

Ages of roles have yet to be determined. Each person who auditions will be considered for all roles. If called back, you will then be asked to read for specific roles.
Please prepare 2 contrasting monologues, preferably one classical, but not necessary.

Interested in all actors, especially those with dance/movement experience or who play instruments.
We will be using the W.S. Merwin and George E. Dimock Jr. translation.
